Alison Loewen, Notary Public

Hi! My name is Alison. A notary public registered with the State of Virginia. Originally from Toronto, Canada, now I reside in Petersburg, Virginia. I have an undergraduate degree in Psychology and an MBA degree. I have lived in 8 countries and traveled to over 50.

Being a notary is not my full-time occupation. I became commissioned as a notary because I like to help those in my community. I offer many services both in my capacity as a notary public and an international professional.

*Please note that I operate as a standard (“traditional”) notary. I do not provide “signing” or asset verification services, I am also not an e-notary.

MOBILE NOTARY SERVICE

I will an travel to my client’s site within the Petersburg, VA and surrounding area to notarize documents including but not limited to real estate documents, power of attorneys, wills, trusts, deeds, affidavits, car impound letters, mechanic’s liens, and divorce separation documents. As a notary public, I am attesting to the identity of the signer of a document and to certain facts about the signing of that document. I am not attesting to the truthfulness of a document or statements made within it nor to the legality of any document I am notarizing.

Under the Code of Virginia (§ 47.1-2), the only forms of satisfactory evidence of identity to be used in a notary request are:

• Unexpired United States passport
• Certificate of United States citizenship
• Certificate of naturalization
• Unexpired foreign passport
• Alien registration card with photograph
• State issued drivers license
• State issued identification card
• United States military card

APOSTILLE AGENT SERVICE

As a notary public, I cannot provide you with an apostille as this specialized certification is issued by the Secretary of State. An apostille authenticates the signature of a public official on a document, allowing it to be recognized in countries that are part of the 1961 Hague Convention. However, I will help you contact the specific agency to inquire whether an original notarized document is required, to confirm with a state agency if they will issue an apostille for a document notarized using remote notarization or other details such as whether the document requires translation or a cover page, and to provide courier services to deliver notarized documents requiring apostilles to the appropriate agency.

DOCUMENT DISCOVERY SERVICE

I will help you research specific state / province departments that hold specific public records, and I will help you request death, birth, marriage, divorce certifications from both the U.S. and Canada.

PHOTO DOCUMENTATION

I can provide credible, dependable photo documentation that can be used for landlords, tenants, insurance companies for purposes of insurance claims, legal records, property management, or ownership verification.
